The field is used by local athletes for training and competitions, but less than 30% of the lighting systems are currently working. It's a disgrace that our athletes have to train in these conditions.

Honduran Government Blind & Deaf to Athlete's Needs, as Local Athletes continue to Play in the Dark

We're sorry to report that the lighting situation at the Campo de Pelota Lempira Reyna in the capital city of Tegucigalpa, Honduras is still not resolved. We've brought this to the attention of the Honduran government multiple times, but they continue to be blind and deaf to the issue.

The field is used by local athletes for training and competitions, but less than 30% of the lighting systems are currently working. It's a disgrace that athletes have to train in these conditions.

Not only is the lighting an issue, but the government recently used the field as a parking lot for an event they were hosting. They couldn't even be bothered to find a proper location for their cars!

This is simply unacceptable. We urge you to contact your local representatives to demand that this issue is resolved. We can't allow our local athletes to be put at such a disadvantage.

Lights out at the Lempira Reyna - Picture @jpmena23

It's been months since we brought the issue of the lighting situation at the Campo de Pelota Lempira Reyna to the attention of the Honduran government, and they still haven't done anything about it. We don't understand why they're not responding and we demand answers. This is a serious safety issue.

Local athletes are continuing to use the field, even though only a fraction of the lights are working. It's just too important a facility to let go to waste. But it's getting increasingly dangerous as time goes on. We've already had one athlete get injured because he couldn't see properly in the dark.

We've tried reaching out to my contacts in the government, but no one seems willing or able to help. They've continued to ignore the issue and make excuses.

It's simply unacceptable. We urge you to speak to your local representatives and demand action on this matter. We can't allow our athletes to be put at such a disadvantage!

Less than 30% of lights work at the Lempira Field - Picture @jpmena23

It's been quite a while since we've brought this to the attention of the Honduran government. As you know, the lighting situation at the Campo de Pelota Lempira Reyna is less than satisfactory. In fact, it's barely functional.

Local athletes continue to use the facility, even though they're working in near-darkness. It's not safe, and it's certainly not fair to them. They deserve better.

But what can we do? We've tried reaching out to the government, but they seem blind and deaf to our concerns. They don't seem to care about these athletes and their safety.

Just last week, we reached out again- this time with an invitation for them to come and see the conditions for themselves. But once again, they refused.

It's time for us to take action. We need to show the government that we're serious about this issue. We need to demand change.
