Mexico to Test Program to Expedite Entry for Foreign Nationals

No more Mexican Immigration Forms for U.S. citizens!

MEXICO TO TEST PROGRAM TO EXPEDITE ENTRY FOR FOREIGN NATIONALS

As of August 2, 2022, the National Immigration Institute has implemented a test program at the Guadalajara and Cancun airports to speed up the admission of foreign nationals into the country. The new system will allow U.S. citizens to bypass Mexican immigration forms completely, making entry into the country simpler and faster.

The test program is part of a larger effort by the Mexican government to streamline its visa process and make it more efficient. In the past, foreign nationals seeking to enter Mexico were required to fill out cumbersome paperwork and endure long wait times at border crossings. The new system will eliminate these obstacles, making it easier for visitors to come to Mexico and boosting tourism in the process.

U.S. citizens who wish to take advantage of the new system must have a valid passport and travel insurance that covers medical expenses. They will also need to show proof of onward travel from Mexico, such as an airline ticket or hotel reservation. Once these requirements are met, they will be able to enter Mexico without having to fill out any immigration forms.

The test program is currently only available at the Guadalajara and Cancun airports, but the Mexican government plans to expand it to other airports in the future. If successful, the new system could make Mexico a more attractive destination for tourists and business travelers from around the world.

The new program allows foreign nationals to bypass the delivery of Multiple Immigration Forms (FMM) and instead receive a stamp in their passport indicating the days of legal stay. The immigration authorities have confirmed that they are doing some tests, so foreigners may either receive an FMM or the stamp as described above. There is no way to predict which one you will get.

The Mexican government has been working on a new system that would allow foreign nationals to bypass immigration forms and receive a stamp in their passport instead. The test program is currently only available at the Guadalajara and Cancun airports, but the Mexican government plans to expand it to other airports in the future. If successful, the new system could make Mexico a more attractive destination for tourists and business travelers from around the world.

This new process is being applied for Visitors (tourism/business) and foreigners who enter to do their local registry processes. You will continue to need a passport, but now you may not have to fill out any Mexican immigration forms. All you will need is your passport and travel insurance that covers medical expenses. You will also need to show proof of onward travel from Mexico, such as an airline ticket or hotel reservation. Once these requirements are met, you will be able to enter Mexico without having to fill out any immigration forms.
