10th Annual TEAM NIKO Charity Slow Pitch Tournament: A Resounding Success in Supporting Fanconi Anemia Research
Last weekend was an unforgettable experience for all those who were a part of the 10th Annual TEAM NIKO Charity Slow Pitch Tournament, hosted by Hardy Wood at Brian Piccolo Park. With a goal of supporting Fanconi Anemia research in honor of Niko Peros, son of one of Pembroke Pines Fire Rescue Department firefighters, this event brought together a community of support, kindness, and love.
With 30 teams representing First Responders and Civilian Teams, the tournament was an incredible showcase of sportsmanship, camaraderie, and friendly competition. The level of excitement and energy was palpable, as players from all over came together to support a great cause.
The day was filled with non-stop action, as players from both divisions showed off their skills and battled it out for the title. The First Responders Division was particularly competitive, with some of the best athletes from across the state coming together to prove their mettle. But in the end, it was the METRO DAWGS who emerged victorious, taking home the coveted first-place RINGS.
The Open Civilian Division was equally impressive, with talented players putting on a show for the crowd. But when the dust had settled, it was the BREAKING BATS who emerged as the champions of the day, impressing everyone with their skill, teamwork, and tenacity.
The tournament was not only a celebration of sports but also a tribute to Niko Peros, whose spirit and love of life continue to inspire so many. The proceeds from the event went towards supporting Fanconi Anemia research, a cause close to the hearts of everyone involved. With this tournament, the TEAM NIKO community was able to raise awareness and funds for this important cause, helping to ensure that Niko's memory lives on.
