GUAYMAS, Mexico - The 2023 International Slow Pitch Softball (ISPS) Guaymas Efren Fierros Open Slow Pitch Tournament was a high-spirited competition that concluded with Team Obson standing victorious in the Women's Rec Division. This year's host, ISPS Director Efren Fierros, has once again proven his prowess in organizing a tournament that's considered one of the best in slow-pitch softball.

Team Obson, hailing from Mexico, showcased an incredible performance throughout the tournament, finishing with a perfect 4-0 record. With an impressive average score of 10.8 and a difference of 32, they were a formidable force on the field, leading the division in both offense and defense.

The championship game was a nail-biting event, with Obson narrowly defeating Esperanza with a 5-4 score. Despite the close match, Obson showed their mettle and sealed their victory, marking a triumphant conclusion to their flawless run.

ISPS Commissioner, Manuel T. Ferrero III, praised the high level of competition and the unwavering spirit of the teams. "The talent, passion, and sportsmanship displayed at the tournament were truly inspiring. Congratulations to Team Obson for their well-deserved victory. They exemplified the essence of slow-pitch softball - teamwork, strategy, and resilience," he said.

Esperanza, also from Mexico, took second place with a 2-1-1 record. They displayed strong defensive skills, maintaining an average against score of 5.5, the lowest in the division. Despite falling short in the final game, their performance was commendable, showing that they are indeed a team to watch in the future.

Among the other competitors, Indomables and Sugars tied with a 2-1-0 record, finishing third and fourth respectively. The tournament saw some close, intense games that kept spectators on their toes, demonstrating the high caliber of the teams involved.
