The International Slow Pitch Softball (ISPS) is thrilled to announce that the 2023 USA Slow Pitch National Championships will be held in York City, Pennsylvania, marking a historic moment for the organization. OFFICIAL PRESS CONFERENCE

This year's championships are particularly noteworthy as it is the first time the event will be held outside of Florida, where the league was founded. The decision to bring the tournament to York City was influenced by the city's top-notch, championship-grade facilities, and its community's strong support for sports. "The community here is very supportive of sports. It was a no-brainer to come here to York, Pennsylvania," said ISPS Commissioner, Manuel Ferrero.

The tournament will feature men’s, women’s, co-ed, and senior divisions, all competing for national titles. The event is expected to draw over 1,000 visitors, generating an estimated economic impact of around $1.1 million for York County. This influx of visitors will provide a significant boost to local hotels, restaurants, and small businesses.

ISPS receives a $50,000 Grant from Explore York

The championships are being funded through a $50,000 grant from the York County Tourism Grant Program, which ISPS applied for last year. The grant program is designed to invest in York’s tourism economy and bring impactful events like the USA Slow Pitch National Championships to the county, drawing visitors to the area.

ISPS's partnership with Explore York has been instrumental in making this event possible. Explore York has been showcasing York County for several years, and their aggressive bid package was a key factor in bringing the tournament to York. The organization's mission to maximize tourism expenditures and their economic impact on York County aligns perfectly with the goals of ISPS for this event.

The ISPS is grateful for the generous support of the York County Tourism Grant Program and the long-standing relationship with the Sport York team. "This event would not be possible without the generous support of the York County Tourism Grant Program and my long-standing relationship with the Sport York team," Ferrero said.
