Remembering Gustavo Patusus Pastrana: A Pillar of Slow-Pitch in Argentina

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of a cherished member of the ISPS family, Gustavo Patusus Pastrana. Gustavo, a dedicated ISPS Director from Argentina, left an indelible mark on the slow-pitch community, not only in Argentina but across the region.

Having recently relocated to Spain after the challenges of the pandemic, Gustavo tragically suffered a cardiac arrest during a walk on the beach, passing away at the tender age of 55. The news has been a shock to all of us, especially those who had the honor to work closely with him.

Commissioner Manuel Teodorico Ferrero III expressed his sorrow, stating, "Gustavo's passion and commitment to the sport was truly unparalleled. He was more than just a director; he was a friend, a mentor, and an inspiration to many. His work in Argentina has laid a foundation that will continue to inspire generations of slow-pitch enthusiasts. Our ISPS family has suffered a great loss, and he will be deeply missed."

Under Gustavo's leadership, slow-pitch in Argentina witnessed a significant surge in popularity. He played a pivotal role in establishing local leagues, organizing tournaments, and fostering a community of players who shared his passion for the game. His dedication was evident in every initiative he undertook, ensuring that slow-pitch had a strong and lasting presence in the region.

It's a testament to Gustavo's impact that many in the community remember him not just as an official but as a friend, mentor, and guiding light. His legacy in Argentina and the broader region is solid, and his memory will undoubtedly live on in the hearts of all those he touched.

We extend our deepest condolences to Gustavo's family and friends during this incredibly difficult time. As we mourn the loss of a true pillar of our community, we also celebrate the life and contributions of a man who dedicated himself to the growth and love of slow-pitch.

Rest in peace, Gustavo Patusus Pastrana. Your legacy will forever remain alive in the pitches and hearts of Argentina and beyond.
