CELEBRATING LITTLE HAVANA LEGENDS: A RING CEREMONY FILLED WITH MEMORIES AND TRIUMPH

Yesterday marked a special milestone for the Little Havana Legends, as they gathered at The Brightside Bar Miami for their long-awaited Ring Ceremony. The celebration honored their victory in the 2024 inaugural Spring Season of the City of Miami Shenandoah Park Slow Pitch Softball Women's League. This season was hosted by ISPS USA Slow Pitch Softball and sponsored by the City of Miami, with generous support from Commissioner Manolo Reyes, Commissioner Joe Carollo, Miami Dade County, Commissioner Eileen Higgins, and the fantastic local businesses like Old Bull Athletics and The Brightside Bar Miami, where the ceremony was held.

The event was not just about the rings but also about the moments that defined the team’s journey. A special moment of the night was when we presented awards to Maite Reece, the dominant force of last season. Reece, who had to return home to California, won MVP, Best Batting Average, Most HRs, and Most RBIs last season, but due to a misspelling on her original plaques, we ensured she received corrected versions as a keepsake of her time with us. Even though she was not in attendance, it was a heartwarming tribute to her impact on the league. The plaques reminded us all how one player's dedication could elevate the entire team's spirit.

Unfortunately, Maite Reece wasn't the only one unable to attend the ceremony. Teammates Krista Montijo, JoJo Gibson, and Crystal Martinez also couldn't make it, but their presence was felt in every moment as their rings were passed along to be delivered later.

Those who were able to attend, however, made the night unforgettable. The players in attendance included Rosalina "Ro-Ro" Ross, Yesenia "Beba" Cruz, Cinday Cast, Cristina Alessi, Melissa Flexes, "Ruthless" Ruth Roa, and Victoria "Vicky" Morales. Their excitement, camaraderie, and passion for the game were on full display, and the ceremony truly embodied the spirit of slow-pitch softball.

ISPS Commissioner Manuel T. Ferrero III summed it up perfectly, saying, "These athletes represent the best of our sport. Their dedication, passion, and teamwork brought them to this moment, and we at ISPS are proud to stand by them every step of the way. This ceremony is not just about rings but about the community we build together on and off the field."

The celebration was a perfect reflection of what the league and ISPS stand for—community, competition, and connection. Every ring handed out was more than a piece of metal; it was a symbol of friendship, hard work, and an unforgettable season that brought these athletes together.

As we wrap up this chapter and look forward to more thrilling seasons, the legacy of the Little Havana Legends will be a story of triumph, unity, and unforgettable memories. What's next for these champions? Only time will tell, but one thing is certain: the bond they share will continue to strengthen as they chase even greater victories.
