ISPS Announces Expansion into the Dominican Republic with New Tournament Fields in Punta Cana

The International Slow Pitch Softball (ISPS) is thrilled to announce its latest expansion into the Dominican Republic, with Punta Cana now being considered as a premier location for hosting international tournaments. This beautiful Caribbean destination offers two exceptional fields that cater perfectly to both the men’s and women’s divisions of slow pitch softball, promising an exciting new chapter for ISPS events.

Exploring Punta Cana’s Fields

Through the hard work and dedication of Miguel De La Cruz and the ISPS planning team, two primary fields have been identified that meet the rigorous standards for international play:

  1. Academy Field: This top-tier field is designed for larger games, boasting impressive dimensions that include a 325-foot left field, a 340-foot right field, and a 400-foot center field. Located conveniently near Pueblo Bávaro, it offers easy access from the proposed host hotel, the Barceló Bávaro Palace. The expansive space is ideal for the men’s division, providing a professional-level atmosphere that aligns with the scale and intensity of ISPS tournaments.

  2. Hotel Field/Academy Small Field: This second field is perfectly suited for the women’s division, with cozier dimensions tailored for thrilling yet controlled gameplay. With 190 feet in left field, 195 feet in right field, and 250 feet in center, it ensures exciting plays and close games. Its proximity to the main academy field allows both divisions to compete within a close radius, enhancing the camaraderie and unity that ISPS tournaments are known for.

These fields offer an ideal combination of accessibility, professional dimensions, and the tropical charm of Punta Cana, ensuring that players and fans alike can experience the thrill of slow pitch softball in a spectacular setting.

Building on ISPS’s Global Mission

The move into the Dominican Republic marks another successful step in ISPS's mission to bring slow pitch softball to international audiences. Commissioner Manuel T. Ferrero III expressed his excitement about the expansion, stating, “We are always looking to provide new opportunities for athletes worldwide, and Punta Cana, with its stunning landscapes and world-class facilities, offers an unparalleled experience. This is more than a tournament location—it’s a destination that encapsulates the spirit and energy of ISPS.”

The Role of ISPS Partnerships

As ISPS expands, the support of sponsors, partners, and local enthusiasts remains invaluable. Thanks to the collaboration with local officials and the insightful guidance of Miguel De La Cruz, this project is quickly becoming a reality. ISPS aims to foster strong relationships within the Dominican Republic, inviting local communities and athletes to join the global ISPS family.

The Punta Cana fields are expected to host a variety of tournaments, drawing teams from across the Americas and beyond. The combination of pristine playing surfaces and the allure of a tropical location promises not only fierce competition but also memorable experiences for players, families, and fans.

What’s Next?

The ISPS team will be conducting a site inspection of Punta Cana's fields to finalize arrangements, and additional updates will be shared soon. With every new location, ISPS takes a step further in promoting the sport, building a legacy, and bringing communities together through the love of slow pitch softball.

This expansion into Punta Cana is more than just adding a pin on the map—it’s about fostering friendships, building competition, and creating lifelong memories under the sunlit skies of the Dominican Republic.
