From October 18-19, 2025, the beautiful municipality of Toa Baja, Puerto Rico, became the epicenter of international slow pitch softball. The tournament featured three competitive divisions: Women's Open, Men's Open, and Coed Open, with teams traveling from Florida, New Jersey, Louisiana, California, Arizona, and Puerto Rico to compete for championship glory.
The weekend kicked off in style with a vibrant meet-and-greet welcome party at the iconic Arena Medalla on Friday evening. Saturday morning brought the Women's Open division to life at the 4ta Seccion Complejo Deportivo de Levittown. Three teams battled through pool play with championship aspirations, and the action was nothing short of spectacular.
DRAFT QUEENS (FL) dominated from the opening pitch, posting a perfect 2-0 record in pool play. Their offensive firepower was on full display, outscoring opponents 20-10 while their defense held strong. THE BROADS (LA) from Louisiana showed tremendous heart, splitting their pool games 1-1 and advancing to bracket play. Their 15-0 victory over Las Incorregibles demonstrated their explosive potential, though they faced tough battles throughout the day.
The hometown LAS INCORREGIBLES (PR) represented Puerto Rico with pride, giving their all despite finishing 0-2 in pool play. The local crowd rallied behind them, creating an electric atmosphere that epitomized the community spirit of slow pitch softball in Puerto Rico.
When the championship dust settled, DRAFT QUEENS (FL) stood tall as Women's Open Champions, capping off their dominant weekend with a 2-0 tournament record and a +30.00 run differential. Their championship celebration was a testament to teamwork, preparation, and clutch performance under pressure.
The Men's Open division brought serious firepower to both the 4ta Seccion complex and the 1ra Seccion stadium in Levittown. Ten teams entered the battle, representing some of the finest slow pitch softball talent in North America.
Early highlights included SMOKIN ACES (NJ) making an immediate statement with a commanding 16-4 victory over SERPIENTES (PR), while RIOT (FL) answered back with an impressive 18-7 win against MAMBO KINGS (NJ). The competitive balance was evident as teams jockeyed for position throughout pool play.
SERPIENTES (PR) provided the weekend's most exciting storylines, representing Puerto Rico with tremendous pride. Their 18-5 victory over THE CRUE INT (AZ) had the home crowd on their feet, showcasing the high-quality softball that has made Puerto Rico a hotbed for the sport.
Sunday brought the climactic conclusion to both the Coed Open division and the Men's Open championships. The 1ra Seccion stadium buzzed with anticipation as teams prepared for their final battles.
The Coed Open division featured four talented squads in what became a showcase of balanced competition. TARDY PARTY (FL) and SMOKIN ACES (NJ) both finished pool play with identical 3-1 records, setting up an epic championship showdown.
In a nail-biting finale, SMOKIN ACES (NJ) edged TARDY PARTY 14-11 to claim the Coed Open title. The New Jersey squad's +8 run differential and clutch hitting throughout the tournament proved to be the difference-maker. SMOKIN ACES' balanced roster and tournament experience shone through in the championship game's pressure moments.
NOLA SELECT (LA) and 5150 (CA) rounded out the field, with both teams showing flashes of brilliance despite falling short of the championship round.
The Men's Open division saved its best for last, with championship Sunday featuring some of the tournament's most memorable moments. After two days of intense pool play and bracket competition, SMOKIN ACES (NJ) found themselves in position to complete an unprecedented double championship.
The New Jersey powerhouse entered championship Sunday with momentum, having posted an impressive 6-1 tournament record and a +50.00 run differential. Their balanced offensive attack, averaging 14.86 runs per game, combined with solid defensive play that limited opponents to just 7.71 runs per game.
In the tournament finale, SMOKIN ACES faced RIOT (FL) in what became an instant classic. After falling 30-12 in their earlier meeting, SMOKIN ACES bounced back with authority, capturing the championship with a thrilling 15-13 victory. RIOT (FL) deserves tremendous credit for their tournament run, finishing 4-2 overall and proving they belong among the elite teams in ISPS competition. Their +4.00 run differential and competitive spirit made them worthy championship game participants.
SERPIENTES (PR) finished third overall with a 5-2 record, providing the home crowd with countless memorable moments and proving that Puerto Rican softball continues to reach new heights.
