History was made as the International Slow Pitch Softball (ISPS) organization announced Derek "Baldy" Anderson as the recipient of the first-ever Umpire of the Year (UOTY) Award for 2022. A seasoned veteran with the ISPS since its inception in 2008, Baldy has consistently displayed unwavering dedication and an extraordinary skill set that has earned him this prestigious accolade.
Joseph "Bamm" Penson, ISPS National Director, spoke highly of Baldy during the award announcement. "Derek has been an integral part of our organization since the beginning. His commitment to the sport, fair play, and his ability to maintain a professional yet approachable demeanor on the field make him the perfect candidate for our inaugural Umpire of the Year Award."
ISPS Commissioner Manuel T. Ferrero III also expressed his admiration for Baldy's contribution to the sport.
