Dawn of a New Era: Manuel T. Ferrero III Spearheads Slow Pitch Expansion in Central America
Manuel T. Ferrero III, the esteemed Commissioner of the International Slow Pitch Softball (ISPS), is blazing a new trail for the sport in Central America. A recent trip to Guatemala has solidified his intentions, sparking conversations that could shape the future of slow pitch in the region.
In a move that signifies the ISPS's commitment to growing the slow-pitch community, Ferrero met with Hector Sazo, the President of ASOSOFT. The meeting, held at ASOSOFT's impressive facilities, aimed to initiate and nurture relationships between the two entities.
"I've always admired the passion and dedication of the slow pitch community in Guatemala," said Ferrero, echoing the sentiments of many in the international slow pitch community. "Hector Sazo and his team at ASOSOFT have done a remarkable job in fostering the sport of fast-pitch softball here. Our meeting was extremely productive, and I'm convinced that we can work together to further enrich this already vibrant community."
During his visit, Ferrero toured the ASOSOFT facilities, including the playing fields, offices, training rooms, and gym, accompanied by Sazo and other key members of INGAUT, including Oscar Andres Hernandez. The tour gave Ferrero a comprehensive understanding of the infrastructural capabilities of ASOSOFT.
Commenting on the tour, Ferrero stated, "The facilities here are top-notch. I believe we have a solid foundation upon which to build a thriving slow-pitch community. I look forward to the prospects of bringing more slow pitch events to Central America."
At the heart of this endeavor is ISPS Guatemala Director Mariel Escobar, whom Ferrero lauds for her exceptional work in the region.
"Mariel is a force of nature. Her love for the sport is infectious, and her leadership has been instrumental in the growth of slow pitch in Guatemala," Ferrero said. "We're excited to work closely with her to usher in a new era for the sport in Central America."
This visit marks the beginning of a concerted effort by the ISPS to make slow pitch more accessible and popular in Central America. With the combined efforts of Ferrero, Escobar, Sazo, and the rest of the ISPS and ASOSOFT teams, the future of slow pitch in the region looks promising indeed.
